Hi, I’m Fei (or you can call me Melissa Tan), a creative web designer from Singapore, Founder of Fei Media Solutions.
Previously, I have worked in different places, like Peter Knipp Holdings, Urban Redevelopment Authority and Informatics Education.
I have been designing websites for a few years now, starting from 2006 to be exact. Before I came to designing for the web, I was a Graphic Designer, but I decided to make a switch over to Web Design because of my passion for it.
I earned a Diploma in Multimedia Software Engineering in Singapore Polytechnic, and also a Degree in Multimedia Studies in Central Queensland University.
Basically, I enjoy working on Web User Interface Design, and at the same time learning important skills like new web technologies for front-end coding.
During my free time, I enjoy brainstorming, surfing the web for new website ideas, getting inspiration from other designers/developers, working on almost all kinds of handicrafts like crocheting, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking and many others.
I also enjoy going out for long walks all by myself, hanging out with friends for a cup of tea, or to discuss with friends about ideas with regards to the web, in order to get my creative juices flowing at all times.
For Web Design Mockups, I use Adobe Fireworks CS6 and Adobe Photoshop CS6 for advanced graphics. For frontend web coding, I use HTML5, CSS3 and bits of JQuery for simple animations and added functionality.
I currently embrace the fact that I am working on Responsive Web Design now to cater for audiences who are using smartphones or phones with very small screens to surf the web.
As far as I can understand, Responsive Web Design is the talk of the town and also the "in" thing now among web designers and developers alike. I strongly believe that it will become popular in the near future, since more and more people are using their phones to surf the web.
